A Brother’s Love
We recently received one of those Amazon books filled with toys, and as soon as it hit the table, the kids started fighting over it, and giggling with shouts of excitement. Carson eagerly circled four things he hoped to get from Santa, while Camila, circled about thirty. They took turns showing Calvin and I the toys they just had to have, and Carson continued flipping through the pages, he was still looking for something.
As he browsed, his enthusiasm turned to frustration and exasperated sighs, and I heard him muttering about Disney characters. “I just have to show you one more thing,” he insisted. I pointed to a toy with Disney characters and asked, “Buddy, are you sure that’s not it?” But it wasn’t. He flipped through the same pages multiple times, he was so determined. He knew exactly what he was looking for.
Finally, Calvin grabbed the book and pointed at something on the first page. “Is this it?” Carson’s face lit up. “Yes! Camila really wants that!” This sweet boy spent ten minutes searching for a toy for his sister, it wasn't even for him.
Watching him, filled me with pride. That’s just a tiny glimpse of how thoughtful he is, and moments like this remind me that I must be doing something right.
