Different Now

The world treats me differently now,

It stares with eyes that wonder how.

How I’ve changed, or how I ache,

How I bend but never break.

Once I blended, lost in the crowd,

Whispers follow, they speak too loud.

Judgement lingers, I try not to care,

When did this world become so unfair?

They think they know, they think they see,

But they don’t know who I used to be.

A lost shadow, a hidden spark,

Blending in, acting the part.

I never asked to be this way,

To feel the distance everyday.

Yet here I am, with every stare,

Everyday made more aware.

The world treats me differently now,

I don't know why, I don't know how.

I just want to love and be loved back,

Is that too much to ask?
